J'aurai un entretien au téléphone or something like that!!!!

I am pleased to announce that, through some amazing stroke of luck, I have a phone interview with Yummy Jobs, scheduled for some time in the next week or so!!!!

So, here I go again... Wish me luck.

I'd been away from WDWIP for a few days and had not checked my e-mails either so was not surprised, but still suitably worried to see an e-mail from Michele titled 'telephone interview'.
I got in, but a lot of deserving people did not. Ours is not to reason why obviously, but it must be so deeply frustrating for them as I know it was for me when I didn't make off of the Waiting List.
It is a bit confusing as there seems to be no logic to the selection process... people with seemingly extensive experience didn't get in - weird!

I'm really sad for these guys, but urged them not to give up - Disney dreams do come true!!!
As for me, Megan, Steph, Todd, Jim and a couple of others whose real names I don't know, we are through and are awaiting confirmation of the times/dates of our little chat with Michele or whoever it is from Yummy.

That is all of the news from Disney at the mo, except dear Skipper Lou is now FIVE days away from departure (note to self: must check her blog!) and that is indeed very exciting!!! Impatience is not going to get the better of me this time though - I'm going to remain calm throughout...

Otherwise, life proceeds well. I've just finished my exams (well, tbh I only had one!) and am now reading for my dissertation. Semester Two starts next week, so it'll be back in to the daily grind of lectures etc soon! Joy of joys!!!!

Will update this post with the date and time of the Phone Interview and my next post will probably be after it has happened.

Unil then;

"Please stand clear of the doors...
Por favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas..."

New Start, New Beginning, New Application! Whatever you call it, here I go again!!!!!!!

Hello everybody.

Well I had to mark this momentous occasion with a blog. So here it is! I should, of course, be revising - but who wants to do that, its boring!!

I e-mailed Michele and I'm a new applicant all over again!! Watch this space for details of the phone interview etc.

I would firstly like to draw your attention to a lovely - and downright hilarious - friend of mine, Michelle, who uploaded her latest vlog last night. You can find it at:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=emQbUeJNTnk and link to the previous ones from there. Yours truly has a mention or two!

In other Disney-related news, I recieved my latest pin (Chip n Dale, Christmas 08, LE 1000) yesterday and it is lovely, if I say so myself! I used my e-bay voucher and so it only cost £1 or something silly like that! My collection is around 450 strong and if I ever get to Florida, then I hope it will grow more and more!!

Not sure why, but I'm reasonably nervous about the whole thing now. Greater fear of rejection than last time I guess. Never fear though, as I expected, a group of lovely people have sprang up on WDWIP and we are all getting to know each other already.
Special shout-out to Megan from there as the first person I got to know by name!

My other special mention is of Louisa who is now at 13 days until departure! I wish her and eveyone else leaving on February 3rd, a Magical year in the Happiest Place on Earth.

That's it for now methinks. I'll leave you with this thought:

The first step towards getting somewhere
is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are

Crunch Time

Ok, so I should be writing an essay and I promise I will get back to it after I've updated y'all.

So last night I sent an e-mail to Michele at Yummy Jobs, I won't paste it here, but the gist of it was;

Can I take myself off of the Waiting List and submit a new application NOW (they review the new applications from the 15th)? I asked her if she thought there was any chance of me getting the call in the next two weeks and if not would I be able to apply again now as opposed to waiting until the summer...

Because I am so ready to apply again, right now, it wouldn't be a problem for me at all and all of my preparation is already done. I could work through the summer, be able to go to Momentum hopefully and leave for Disney in September or whenever they want me...

She hasn't replied as of 2.30pm GMT and I keep checking my e-mails every hour or so, which I just realised is almost as bad as I was when we were waiting to hear the outcome of the f2fs!!!

My reasoning is that if I apply and get accepted properly (ie get a position and start date) this time, I'll still only start a couple of months after the friends who I met at the interview and still get to spend most of the year with them... Which would actually be amazing!

So that's why this post is called 'Crunch Time' because its got to the point where I've done my waiting and don't think anything else is going to happen to the Wait List, so I'm thinking its time to cut my loses and see if I can apply again. Let's face it, I was always going to have more of a chance of getting in applying now, than then, because of my availability...

I'll keep you posted!

*UPDATE, 9th Jan 09*

I've been e-mailing back and forth to Michele (she is sooo lovely and helpful) about my rather unique position.

She confirmed that all I need to do is to e-mail her, basically say the word, and she'll change my status on the YJ website to 'New Applicant' so I can start all over again if I want to.
She did warn me that there are less places available this time around, so there is that consideration...
Michele also said I could stay on the List a couple of weeks longer, if I wanted to...

Decisions, DECISIONS, DECISIONS!

ARGHHHHH

Ok, so this is the deal: I'm staying on the Waiting List for two more weeks and then I need to e-mail Michele to remind her to change my status to 'New Applicant' on the YJ website!
Looks like I get the best of both worlds!!!

So I will leave you with the immortal words of Hannah Montana;

"Don't let no small frustration,
Ever bring you down,
Just take a situation,
And turn it all around,

With a new attitude everything can change,
Make it how you want it to be,
Staying mad, why do that, Give yourself a break,
Laugh about it and you'll see!

Life's what you make it,
So let's make it rock!"

Happy New Year 2009! Happy 21st to me!!

Welcome to 2009 everyone! Hope its a good one for you especially if, unlike me, you're heading out to work at WDW at some point.

My Disney experience is almost at an end now, Yummy start reviewing new applications from the UK in the middle of January and then the Waiting List will cease to exist in February :''''(
A lot of people who were on the List got off of it and so my message to anyone is that if you end up on it, IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! My problem was that I wasn't available until the end of July (due to graduation) and wanted to do Merch.

IF I apply again, I'll be more available, but will still choose Merch.

The good thing is that I haven't given up hope yet, despite how it sounds above. The chances of me getting a place have been getting smaller and smaller since November, but I haven't given up yet... Let's put it this way, if Louisa can apply and only get in the third time she applied, with her amazing Disneyness, then there's hope for the rest of us!

Did you have a good Christmas? Christmas was pretty awesome for me; got a few cool items such as Camp Rock and Prince Caspian DVDs and some very much needed cash! Haven't opened my presents today yet, so I wonder what's in store for me there! Hope it was Magical for you all too!

In other sadder news, the inevitable return to Uni draws near. It is in fact only 3 days away now :-/ I have less than a month to hear from Disney via Yummy if they're going to offer me a job...
I've been thinking so much about this because, when I graduate - in seven months - I am going to need a job sharpish. Thankfully I have a job at Argos to come home to, which if nothing else will give me £50 a week. Yay.

I should be getting two lots of wages on the 17th Jan and my Student Loan before that so that makes me happy on the money front. In other exciting news, I bought something from E-Bay for my friend's Christmas present, gave it a bad feedback as it wasn't described well, and got sent a £10 E-bay voucher! So when New Year is over and people start listing things again, I'm going to treat myself to an expensive pin!!!!!!!

Christmas Day working at Disney sounds a little bit weird but I know I'd love to experience it anyway. For an awesome blog (with an account of working at Christmas etc) by a UK FnBer, read one called 'Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust' by Tori - its really, really gooooood!
When she goes, Louisa's Blog is going to great tooooo and you can find it here
http://www.freewebs.com/disneygibbs . It's got her blog from the year she spent on the College Program too, so its a good read indeed! I can't believe that she leaves in just over a month on the 3rd Feb.

In my last blog I told you how I'd jokingly said that I would spend my saved money on going out to Florida to visit my friends if I didn't get on the program. I'm still considering it, but the problem is that in 6 months time, I'll most likely be back living under the parental thumb and that kind of frivolous spending / independant travel will be out of the question, methinks.

What else can I tell thee? Hmmm I wonder....
I REALLY, REALLY WANT TO GO TO DISNEY!!!!
What else can I tell you that you didn't already know???? Nothing really.
I will of course let you know if I hear anything from Disney either way. I can't believe all of my excitement, planning, blogging, scrap booking, day dreaming etc was for nothing
...

I'll leave you with a thought, but what to say?
In order; Magic Kingdom, Disneyland California, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Disneysea, Disneyland Paris, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are the top 8 most visited theme parks in the world as of 2007.
Walt Disney actually had the best idea ever and people dedicated to his legacy have been making magic for families ever since. There is no one else I would rather work for. If you've never been, go. If you want to work there, apply. If finances or failure or lack of Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust get in your way, then try again.

I know I will.
